Maternity Photo Shoot

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

I just love how these photos turned out! Even though the 34 lbs weight gain totally shows (LOL), I couldn't ask for anything more =) I really love taking photos with Mariah. She really makes the photo shoot fun! If ever any of you come to Maui to visit & are interested in a photographer to capture your memories, don't hesitate to call her! You will not be disappointed. She's definitely affordable & takes amazing photos.

I can't wait to show Jadelyn these pictures when she gets older. We've shown Landon some of his baby pictures & all he does is laugh. It's funny to look back at things like that. It definitely brings tears to my eyes.

Until my next post, enjoy these photos! Talk to you guys soon. XOXO.

Maybelline, Loreal & Revlon Haul

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

My boyfriend was kind enough to buy me a few of these color tattoos. Everyone is just raving about them. The hype is just as huge as the lip butters!

I hit up Walgreens a week ago & was sad when I only saw 3 left on the shelf. I picked up Fierce & Tangy and Bold as Gold. I originally was supposed to return Bold as Gold because I have a few MAC bases that are similiar to that color but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of driving to Walgreens just to return one thing so it ended up going in my drugstore makeup drawer. I also picked up 3 more lip butters in Pink Truffle, Sugar Plum & Brown Sugar (click here for lip butter swatches) and I also got a new mascara by Loreal, thanks to my girl over at http://penelopeamor91.blogspot.com. I wanted a few of the color tattoos & the mascara after reading her blog posts!

We went shopping today for some things we needed for my baby shower tomorrow so we checked out Walmart since we needed a few things from there anyway. I spotted a full shelf of these color tattoos. They were priced reasonably, of course because it's Walmart. I don't remember the exact price but I know it was less than $7 for one. Since the boyfriend was buying these for me I just threw whatever colors I wanted in my basket :) He bought it with no questions asked. SCORE!

Swatches & a full review of the color tattoos will follow soon so be sure to check back :)

Battle of the brands: Primers - Too Faced Shadow Insurance vs. Urban Decay Primer Potion

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

In case you don't know, I'm a HUGE fan of Urban Decay's Primer Potion. I have been using this eye primer for years! Even when they still had their old packaging which pissed of the entire beauty world, I've never turned away from their product. It's such an amazing product & has totally changed the way I look at eyeshadow. I don't mind coughing up the $19 for it. I say it's worth every penny. Eyeshadows can be very pricey these days so I say you protect your investment & get the best out of it. Everyone wants vibrant, long wearing & crease-less eyeshadows & primer potion seems to get the job done.

Along came Too Faced Shadow Insurance which is a similiar product. I've been hearing so much about this product. I never cared to try it because first off, I have a ton of primer potion. A little goes a long way so a tube will nearly last you forever. Secondly, why fix it if it's not broken? I mean, I'm happy with my primer potion so why change that, right? WRONG!

First of all, let's talk a little more about the products.

Urban Decay Primer Potion:
$19 | 0.37 oz.
Packaged in a new squeeze tube with a precise needle nose, these bestselling primer potions glide effortlessly onto the skin providing the ultimate eye prep for smoother, more vibrant shadow and all-day, creaseless wear. The original, award-winning formula disappears completely when applied—ideal for the purist who wants a straightforward primer. Eden, Greed, and Sin work triple-duty as primers, highlighters, or eye shadows. If you want to avoid shimmer, Eden provides a matte, nude wash of color. Greed and Sin both feature a sensual shimmer that makes eyes pop. Formulated in an array of textures, the shades in this line truly offer something for everyone.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance:
$18 | 0.35 oz.
This is your full-coverage insurance policy against all fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. Our silicone based eyeshadow primer transforms any eyeshadow into a perfectly blendable, color-drenched, intensified version of itself, then locks it down perfectly until you take it off. This soothing formula evens out the skintone on your lids and smoothes lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup, so no shadow catastrophes will ever happen again.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Dyes
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates

I must say that anything Paraben free is already a winner in my book. Long story short, if you don't know what Parabens are, well, it's chemicals found in products used as preservatives & is linked to breast cancer. So thumbs up to Too Faced for formulating their product without parabens :D

What I love about both brands is that they're PETA APPROVED! I cannot stress how much I love the thought that they do not test on animals :)

So my curiosity got to me the other day & while it was slow at work I proceeded to conduct an experiment of my own. My co-workers always rave about Too Faced Shadow Insurance so I decided to see which primer was the best. I cannot believe that the shadows I swatched showed up much more vibrant on top of Too Faced instead of Urban Decay! I was shocked! I then went around to my co-workers & asked them to pick out which shadows looked better without telling them what primers I had on. They all picked the shadows that were swatched on top of Too Faced.

I found that Too Faced also went on smoother & it was much easier to apply the shadows. There was absolutely no tugging & it was very blendable. Color pay off was definitely amazing & much more vibrant. There was a huge difference. The shadows swatched on Urban Decay were less pigmented & appeared a bit patchy. I wish I had photos of those exact swatches :(

I have a few photos but these are not the best. As always, things appear better in person than in photos.

I love that Urban Decay has finally changed their packaging. Cutting open a bottle of UDPP was so not the business. And after putting all the product in a seperate jar, it would dry up quicker than usual so that was a total waste of money.

Both brands have amazing packaging. I am loving the squeeze tubes. So easy to dispense & better product control.

As you can see, they look almost identical to eachother. They both have a nude color to them & applies sheer to the eyelids when blended out. However, TFSI is a bit more sheer & like I said it applies evenly & much more smooth.

While on the other hand UDPP is much more opaque & would neutralize the eyelids a little more than TFSI.

And now onto the swatches. You won't really notice a huge difference in the photos but in person there is definitely a difference. In this photo I used MAC's Firecracker eyeshadow.

I also played around with different finishes so you could see the difference. So I have MAC's Humid eyeshadow which is a Frost finish, MAC's Plumage which is Matte & MAC's Melon pigment. I think that TFSI gives a slightly better color pay off & smoother consistency. The colors also appear truer to life. What do you think?

So the famous question will probably be "Will you be switching from Urban Decay to Too Faced?"

Haha to be honest I have a lot of primer potion on my hands. I think I'll definitely use up what I have then switch over. I'm not here to bash any of these brands because I love them both. This is just my honest opinions on these products. Some may agree & some may not, It's all good. I would love to hear your guys feedback though! Shoot me a comment & let me know what you think. What is your favorite eyeshadow primer?

Pregnancy HOME STRETCH!!!

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

I'm nearly 37 weeks into my pregnancy. Time sure flew by with this one. I'm in my 3rd trimester (obviously, LOL) & I swear it's been HELL! I don't remember feeling this way when I was pregnant with Landon. All I complain about is pain, pain & PAIN. I can never find a comfortable sleeping position. My legs cramp up when I'm in bed. I can't even walk at times because all this excess weight just puts so much pressure on my body. My back is constantly hurting. BACKACHES freckin' suck! Why must the ending of pregnancy be so hard? And damn, this is just the beginning! The labor will be a million times worst. I cannot believe that men weren't blessed with the privelage of carrying a baby for 9 months. Wouldn't it be nice if us women could just participate in the fun parts like the baby making process & have the men go through pregnancy & labor? Haha. That would be the day! I can't believe all the hardship we women have to go through. *SMH*

I've been having dreams of Jadelyn lately. Is it probably I'm totally over being pregnant & just can't wait to finally meet her? My dream last night was me being so over protective over her & not wanting to put her down. All I did was carry her. I totally look forward to having that baby scent just lingering in our bedroom. I love the smell of babies!

I did take maternity photos. I'm just waiting on them to be edited. Again, Pat's sister in law, Mariah, shot all our photos. I can't wait to see how the pictures turned out. I'll be sure to post them up as soon as I get them. In case you folks didn't see it on Twitter, I tweeted a sneak peek of our photo shoot :) Here you go if you haven't seen it yet.

I adore this picture. However, I don't adore the weight gain hahaha. Look at my arms! UGH! It's okay though. I'm sure that'll go away once I start working out again so I'm not that concerned. And although I love my dress, I had to idea how ginormous it made me look! Yay for loose, flowy maxi dresses (o_O) The story of a pregnant lady *sigh*

I have 23 days left! I can't believe it. That's a little over 3 weeks!! Holy cow. My baby shower is on Saturday so I hope Jadelyn won't make an appearance before then. I really need to figure out how we're going to fit all her stuff into our bedroom. It's so crowded in here. How I wish we had a place of our own. Since I'm not working today I'm thinking of moving things around so I can find places to put her things. I already stole one of Landon's drawers to fit some of the things she's received from friends & family as well as some things I bought for her. Landon is totally not cool with that haha.

I'm hoping the next 3 weeks will fly by. I cannot wait to be un-pregnant. I'm hanging in there though :D I will talk to you all in my next post!

DARE to be BOLD!

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

Ever seen someone rocking a bold look & wish you could do the same but it's just out of your comfort zone? Well I encourage you to try it. I have clients that come into the store all the time & compliment a bold lip color or look I'm wearing & say "I wish I could use that." Well, you can. Makeup is supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be daring, creative & sometimes out of your comfort zone. Back then I never ever pictured myself wearing a red lipstick because I felt I "didn't match." There is a perfect red lipstick for everyone out there, you just got to find the right shade.

Lately I have been into bold lips. I guess I've been using nudes far too long & it was time to step out of the box & try new things. Wearing a bold lip can change up any look & I really like that concept. You can just wing out your eye liner, throw on some false lashes, put on a bright lip color & look fierce.

So speaking about stepping outside of the box, I've been playing with a bunch of colors, seeing what suits my skintone the best & lately I have been loving matte & satin textures and colors that are in the fuschia & purple families. That is totally out of my comfort zone! I never in a million years thought I'd wear purple lipstick but I must admit I like it.

So you never know what you might fall in love with if you don't try it. So pick up that red or bright colored lipstick or gloss you've had your eye on for a while & I dare you to put it on. You might not like it at first because you're not used to it but I'm sure others will have a different point of view. And if all else fails, remember it's just makeup. At the end of the day you can wipe it all off =) Good luck!

Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in Vesuvio $25

Cover Girl Lipstick in Divine $5+

Cover Girl Lipstick in Enchanted $5+

Smashbox Fuschia Flash Matte $19

Smashbox Vivid Violet $19

Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Intense #40 $19
(This Orange lipstick isn't as bad as I thought it would be)

Birchbox Rant!

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

I am so glad that I cancelled my subscription with this company! In the beginning they were really good. I enjoyed my boxes for the most part. And as the months went by the service & the products started to suck! My boxes were coming in late, some of the products were repeats, and the last straw for me was when I didn't receive a box for the month of December. *RAWR*

They emailed me saying that my December box would be late due to a shipping error. A few days later I get another email saying that I would not be receiving a box but instead they would credit my account by giving me points instead & if I wanted my money back for that month, I would have to email them. WTF! I thought that getting my money back should have been the first option.

I was so irritated that I didn't even care to ask for my $10 back. I just cancelled my subscription. I don't think I'll be going back unless they improve on product & customer service.

Just thought I should get that out there. Needed to blow off some steam. So now that that's done... has anyone been through this with Birchbox? Let me know your stories.

REVIEW: Revlon Lip Butters

Don't forget to enter my blog giveaway! Click here to enter now! Open until January 25, 2012.

After all the hype that was going around about these lip butters I finally got my hands on some. Ulta.com was having a sale of buy one get one 50% off so I bought 4. And just recently I saw that my local Walmart started carrying these so I bought a few more since it was the cheapest place I could find them. I wanted to try them out to see what the whole hype was about. I'm sure I'm late on this post because everyone else has probably reviewed them but whatever. I live in Hawaii & we get everything late so cut the girl some slack ;P Now onto the review.

Product name:
Revlon Lip Butters
Purchased at: ulta.com & Walmart
Product price: $6-8 (depending on store)

Product claims:

- Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
- Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
- Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine
- Available in 20 luscious shades

Would I re-purchase? Yes.

Final thoughts: With over 20 shades available for purchase I certainly don't think anyone needs all 20. I personally like the brighter colors out of the bunch rather than the neutral ones. The neutral shades tend to be a bit sheer for my taste & they all tend to look the same on the lip. My favorites out of the ones that I have are Lollipop, Red Velvet & Raspberry Pie. I find that these colors are really pigmented & had the longest staying power, especially Red Velvet. I think these 3 colors are going to be constant re-purchases for me. As for the other colors, they're not a really big deal to me. They are moisturizing but I've tried other products that moisturized my lips better. The moisture died down after a few hours of wear. They do have a glossy finish to them. I like that you don't have to put a gloss on top of these. All in all, most of these were a hit & miss for me. I don't hate them yet I don't love them. Actually, I love the 3 that I mentioned above & the rest were 'ok' to me. Price wise -- I thought they were more on the expensive side for a drugstore lip product but being that they're lipsticks, lip balms & lip glosses all in one I guess that's what makes it seem affordable.

I'm sure everyone has tried these. What is your favorite shade? Did you go all out & buy every single shade? What are your thoughts on this product? Please share =)
