Face & Eye Primers 101
Believe it or not, at work I come across a lot of people who don't know the importance of primers. It's part of my job to educate clients on products & I feel that primers are a must have in everyone's makeup collection. I feel like a primer is just as important as applying moisturizer. We all have different thoughts on primers but this is just my honest opinions on them.
Primers should not be that "optional" step. It should be incorporated into your daily makeup routine & I'll tell you why.
-Primers fill in lines & pores, evens out skin tone & gives you a flawless surface to work with. Just as an artist would use a primer before proceeding to start painting, the same applies to makeup.
-Your face makeup will last much longer if you use a primer before applying your foundation.
-You'll use less foundation if you apply a primer first so your products will last you longer than usual.
-Primers help to keep your makeup looking fresh all day long. You'll touch up / re-apply less.
-Prevents creasing, helps with longevity of eyeshadow, shadows appear much more vibrant.
I say if you're going to spend $40+ on a foundation or $20 on an eyeshadow, why not protect your investment by using a primer to get your product working at it's finest quality? Makes sense right? I use a primer with everything. Even if it doesn't require a primer, I still use one. Why? Because I notice the difference. Primers really do make all the difference.
There are primers for both face & eyes that works for every skin type. Smashbox & Makeup Forever have face primers that suit whatever skin type you may have. Primers also don't have to be expensive for it to work well. There are a few drugstore ones that I've tried that work great. There are also primers that help with color correcting on the face, minimizing pores, etc. And then there are also eye primers that are colored, which you can use to bring out the color of any eye shadow. The possibilities are endless with primers. Below I'll list some popular primers for both the face & eyes. Stop by your nearest drugstore or high end counter & check some of these products out!
