Face & Eye Primers 101

Believe it or not, at work I come across a lot of people who don't know the importance of primers. It's part of my job to educate clients on products & I feel that primers are a must have in everyone's makeup collection. I feel like a primer is just as important as applying moisturizer. We all have different thoughts on primers but this is just my honest opinions on them.

Primers should not be that "optional" step. It should be incorporated into your daily makeup routine & I'll tell you why.

Face Primers:
-Primers fill in lines & pores, evens out skin tone & gives you a flawless surface to work with. Just as an artist would use a primer before proceeding to start painting, the same applies to makeup.

-Your face makeup will last much longer if you use a primer before applying your foundation.

-You'll use less foundation if you apply a primer first so your products will last you longer than usual.

-Primers help to keep your makeup looking fresh all day long. You'll touch up / re-apply less.

Eye Primers:
-Prevents creasing, helps with longevity of eyeshadow, shadows appear much more vibrant.

I say if you're going to spend $40+ on a foundation or $20 on an eyeshadow, why not protect your investment by using a primer to get your product working at it's finest quality? Makes sense right? I use a primer with everything. Even if it doesn't require a primer, I still use one. Why? Because I notice the difference. Primers really do make all the difference.

There are primers for both face & eyes that works for every skin type. Smashbox & Makeup Forever have face primers that suit whatever skin type you may have. Primers also don't have to be expensive for it to work well. There are a few drugstore ones that I've tried that work great. There are also primers that help with color correcting on the face, minimizing pores, etc. And then there are also eye primers that are colored, which you can use to bring out the color of any eye shadow. The possibilities are endless with primers. Below I'll list some popular primers for both the face & eyes. Stop by your nearest drugstore or high end counter & check some of these products out!

Spring Inspired FOTD Featuring Drugstore Products

During Jadelyn's nap today I thought that I'd freshen up my blending skills since I'm going back to work soon hehe. I was tempted to use my Wet n' Wild I ♥ Matte Palette because I've never used this palette before. Once I swatched it, I remember leaving it out on my vanity so I'd use it but it slowly made it into the back of my drawer where I hold my drugstore products. The life of a makeup hoarder LOL.

Spring is here & when I think of Spring the one thing that comes to mind is bright, bold colors. I totally broke some makeup rules when it came to this look. I did bold eyes & bold lips. So the hell what? Rules are meant to be broken :) And I totally fell in love with the results that I'm thinking of rockin' this look tomorrow night. I also paired the look with nude lips so you guys could get an idea of what that would look like. I hope you guys enjoy this post.

Try this look out! Majority of the products I used can be found at any drugstore which makes everything pretty accessible & afforadable.

The Need to Play With Makeup

This is such a sad excuse for an update hahaha but I thought I'd share anyway. Pfff, it's my blog & if you don't like it then whatevs :) Just click the [x] :D

Anyway, with Jadelyn here it's so hard for me to even dress up to go anywhere. As tired as I am, there are times when we go out as a family where I refuse to look crappy and look like I just rolled outta bed. I mean, I look like that 95% of the time now days LOL. I always feel the need to get dressed up or look a bit put together because I wanna be the mom who still knows how to look "presentable" in the outside world. And maybe, just MAYBE, I give a crap about what Pat thinks of me LMAO. I'm sure he gets tired of me looking like I just got beat up or something. I'd like people to know that I can still take time out of my day to look like a million bucks bwahaha. And I have to admit that I truly MISS playing with my makeup & hair tools, I really do.

I wasn't going anywhere when these photos were taken but I just needed to play with my makeup so I opted to play with some Color Tattoos. This isn't my first time using them but these are the first photos of me using them. In the first pic, I wasn't even using mascara haha. And no face products were used either.

I put this face on when I went to my parents' house for dinner. You know me & my bold lips and dramatic lashes -- it never fails! According to my Dad "You look like you're gaining weight but you're still beautiful!" Yeah, ok. Right on, pops! That's the perfect thing to say LOL. Let's not forget that when he said that it wasn't even a month after I gave birth. *SIGH* Filipino parents.

When my siblings & I go over to my parents' house we all love to play dress up once in a while. We seriously hang out at their home looking like we're going to dinner or something. That's what makes our get togethers fun. We fancy hehe.

1 Month & Motherhood

I know I say this a lot but I just can't believe how fast time goes by. It really feels like yesterday that I was in the hospital in crucial pain just counting down the time until Jadelyn would finally make it into this world. I can't grasp how quick a month went by. It really saddens me that I'll be going back to work soon. 6 weeks felt like a week! I spend so much time with her that I don't want to know what it's going to feel like being away from her for even just a few hours a day. I want to cry just thinking about not being able to be by her side 24/7. Ahhhhh, it's killing me.

Happy one month, baby girl! I love how she can just chill on my lap without a care in the world and just fall asleep. I love how I have that special touch of soothing her like nobody else. I love how she stares into my eyes & just wants me to talk stories with her in the morning. I love how she'll let me kiss her all over her cheeks & lips without getting irritated. Plain & simple, I LOVE HER! Jadelyn & I just bond like no one else.

You know, I never had this "special" bond with Landon. Actually, Pat & I haven't. We were kids when we had Landon. I wasn't even close to being 21 years old! We were totally clueless & didn't know anything about raising a child. Thank God Pat's parents were there to help but maybe we got spoiled just a little too much. I'm not complaining about that because I appreciate every single thing that they've done for us & Landon but we never really got the hands on experience with raising him. He is definitely much closer to his grandparents than he is to us. I don't blame him.

Life is all about learning. It's okay to make mistakes but make sure you learn from them. I promised myself that I'd be a better parent with Jadelyn. There's a 6 year gap between Landon & Jadelyn so I definitely had a few years to mature & grow into a different person. A great example was this past Saturday, all my co-workers & friends went out to the club. It's been over a year since I went to a club. I really wanted to go & catch up, get all dolled up & just relax with my girls. Unfortunately I couldn't go because I got sick, Landon's asthma started acting up that night and I didn't have a babysitter. I was so irritated & mad at the world that I couldn't go but I realized that sacrifices had to be made. It's no longer about me anymore. When we got home from my parents' house that evening, I felt so much better about the decisions that I made that night. As we settled into bed, I glanced at Jadelyn for a minute or two and realized that at home is exactly where I needed to be, lying right next to my baby girl. It was such a bittersweet feeling.

Motherhood is one tough job! It's the one job that doesn't come with instructions. You'll never know what losing your patience feels like until you have a child. Although I'm super exhausted 99% of the time, even though I don't get as much rest as I used to and my days consists of diaper changing, washing baby's laundry, pumping milk, carrying and dancing a little baby around, washing bottles & being able to catch up on everything else like eating, sleeping, watching tv and chores only when she's asleep, I would not change a thing! The way I feel about her is unexplainable. I just know that Jadelyn & I will be closer than anything. Thank you God for answering my prayers & blessing me with my baby girl!
